  • Botanical Description: Spigelia anthelmia is a small, herbaceous plant that typically grows up to 50 cm (20 inches) tall. The leaves are opposite, simple, and lanceolate to ovate in shape, with a smooth margin and a pointed tip. The flowers are tubular and typically red with a yellow throat. They are arranged in terminal spikes or racemes. Each flower has five petals that are fused at the base. The plant produces a small, capsule-like fruit that contains seeds.
